Inkaterra is a Peruvian organisation celebrating 40 years of experience in sustainable tourism initiatives to conserve the environment, preserve native cultures and develop sustainable tourism in Peru. The organization focuses on preserving Peru's nature and cultures to share with travellers providing them with an authentic nature experience.
Inkaterra was the first carbon neutral tourism enterprise in Peru. 12 acres of Amazon Cloud forest have been restored at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel where there are 372 native orchard species. There are 214 bird species registered at the Machu Picchu area. A total of 58 sq miles of Amazon rainforest have been conserved in a private ecological reserve. There are 540 bird species registered at Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica area.

Buffet breakfast. 09:00 Panoramic view of the residential areas of Lima: Miraflores with its Central Park, its sidewalk at the top of the cliffs facing the Pacific Ocean and the Huaca Pucllana and San Isidro with its olive grove. Continue to the historic center to appreciate the main tourist attractions: The San Martin Square, the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), the Cathedral (visit) and the Government and Archbishop Palaces. Afterwards, transfer to Pueblo Libre district for a visit to the private Larco Museum which contains a fascinating collection of beautifully modeled pottery vessels, unique gold and silver work and erotic ceramics from pre-Inca civilizations. An impressive display of thousands of ceramic pieces from the Moche culture brings animals, plants, and anthropomorphic deities to life. Afternoon at leisure.
Continental breakfast. Early morning, transfer to the airport. Departure by LATAM flight (08:13/09:45) to Cusco. Upon arrival reception and immediately take an excursion to the village of Pisac located 32 km from Cusco in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to shop at the colorful Indian market. Lunch at Tunupa del Valle Restaurant in Urubamba, followed by a tour of the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo, the last living Inca town. Accommodation at Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba.
Buffet breakfast. Day at leisure to enjoy the outdoor activities offered by the hotel.
Buffet breakfast. Transfer to Ollantaytambo’s station. A scenic, 1 hour 30 minute Vistadome train trip through the Urubamba Valley, followed by a 30-minute bus ride up to the breathtaking Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Guided tour through the ruins. Buffet lunch at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, located in the town of Machu Picchu (at the base of the mountain).
Buffet breakfast. Morning at leisure to enjoy some of the free activities offered by the hotel (birding, nature walk, orchid walk, tea house, or native farm), and/or the spectacled bear project (donation is required for this visit). In the afternoon, departure by Vistadome train to Cusco (Poroy station). Upon arrival, reception and transfer to Inkaterra La Casona Hotel.
Buffet breakfast. In the morning, city tour including: "Plaza de Armas" (Main Square), the Cathedral, Santo Domingo Church (Koricancha) and the surrounding ruins of Puka Pukara, Kenko, Tampu Machay, and the renowned fortress and religious site of Sacsayhuaman, famous for its cosmic energy. Afternoon at leisure.
Buffet breakfast. At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport. Departure by LATAM flight (12:03/13:00) to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the river port. Depart in a motor dugout canoe to Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica, which is located 45 minutes down the Madre de Dios River. After lunch, free time to relax or take a siesta. Then, share a refreshing tea time and get ready for the afternoon excursion. Choose from a variety of excursions available at the Inkaterra lodge: A guided walk along the trail system into the Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica natural area to discover the Amazon Basin. This trail offers an excellent introduction to the forest environment, winding past impressive trees such as the Shihuahuaco and the uniquely beautiful strangler fig. It also offers excellent opportunities for bird watching and exotic insect observation; twilight river excursion; A guided afternoon boat ride on the Madre de Dios River to witness the Amazon’s transformation from a diurnal to a nocturnal world, as animals and birds of the daytime give way to species specially adapted to the night. Learn about their habits, while you search for nightjars, owls, capybaras and big caimans. Dinner.
Breakfast. In the morning, visit Lake Sandoval in the Tambopata National Reserve. Glide in a wooden canoe across a beautiful mirror-like oxbow lake that is home to the endangered Giant River Otter, as well as red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, side-neck turtles and black caimans. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Inkaterra canopy walkway and take the anaconda walk. Ascending the first tower, 29 metres above the forest ground, begin your encounter with the tree top realm. Walk through the rainforest canopy on a suspension bridge network linking eight observation platforms. Be on the lookout for bright toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys and three-toed sloths. If you wish, you may extend your excursion and appreciate the sunset from one of the towers. Afterwards, experience the anaconda walk for about 30 minutes walking along the 200-metre wooden bridge over the Aguajales swamps. In this lush ecosystem, you may observe various species of amphibians, birds, mammals, abundant flora, trees and possibly the serpents of this flooded marshland. Dinner.
Breakfast. Enjoy a 25-minute boat trip to Gamitana Creek. Explore the rainforest along the banks of a winding, dark-water creek that is home to many piranha, caiman, turtles and birds. Board a canoe and navigate your way back downstream, appreciating the abundant flora and fauna. Return to Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica for lunch. In the afternoon, excursion to the Hacienda Concepcion, with over 200 different plant species, learn about the uses and benefits of traditional topical flora. Followed by a 30-minute canoe trip to look for turtles, sun grebes, nightjars and exotic herons. Dinner.
Breakfast. At the appropriate time, return trip to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport. Departure on LATAM flight (14:48/16:25) to Lima. Arrival and connection with your international flight back home.
