You will depart from your hotel in Puerto Varas at 08:30 a.m. by van for a scenic 40-minute drive along Lake Llanquihue to the whitewater rafting base in Ensenada. This is where you will be able to choose between single or tandem expedition sea kayaks and pick up your gear for the day. After another 30 minutes drive you will arrive at the northernmost fjord of Patagonia, known as the Reloncaví Fjord at Ralún Bay. According to the climatic conditions (tide and wind) different routes are suggested to ensure maximum safety at all times. You will kayak along the first peninsula and arrive in a small cove with green meadows leading towards the fjord; this is where you will stop for lunch. Mrs. Yolanda will be waiting for you in her farm to enjoy a “mate” (Patagonian herbal tea) around the wood stove. Lunch is served while the conversation promises to be interesting as this family has been living here for 4 generations. Back in the kayaks it is time to continue southwards among the beautiful landscapes of the Alerce Andino National Park and always facing the volcanoes. You will have the chance to see sea lions and dolphins (local species are smaller than the average ones we find in other places of the world) and a rich variety of birds that can go from pelicans to cormorants and even penguins. Finally you will cross the fjord towards the entrance of the village of Cochamo, located between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The Cochamo Valley and its big granite walls is world renowned amongst rock climbers and also offers incredible places for hiking activities. This is where you will get out of the water and where your van will wait to drive you back to your hotel with estimated arrival of 7:00 pm in Puerto Varas.
