Puma Encounter

At the end of the American continent, in the remote and untamed Chilean Patagonia, come and follow the trail of the “Andean lion”, the magnificent puma (Felis concolor patagoniaca). Within one of the world’s most spectacular national parks, Torres del Paine, head out with an expert, in search of the puma, to observe her in her natural habitat and snap away with your camera to capture unique photographs. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to learn about local fauna and see first-hand the most incredible mountain views, whilst savoring the comfort and warmth of Hosteria Las Torres.

Day 1: Arrive Punta Arenas. Visit the Cerro Negro Ranch, a typical Patagonian ranch where guests get the chance to enjoy an authentic sheepdog and sheep shearing show organized by the ranch workers and the family owners. Lunch at the ranch. Continue onto Hosteria Las Torres. Informative talk about puma watching (attendance is mandatory). Overnight Hosteria Las Torres.

Day 2: At 08:00 a group of maximum 7 people will leave the hotel led by an expert in puma-watching, animal observation and photography. On foot and/or by van, the group will travel across the nearby areas of either the hotel or the national park depending on where the best chance is to see a puma on the day. The guide will explain the habits of the puma and its behavior, according to the type of puma-sighting experience that occurs. After lunch in the hotel, the group will continue to search for the ultimate snapshot opportunity of the puma. Return  to the hotel at 19:00. Dinner and overnight at Hosteria Las Torres. Morning excursion: 08:00 – 12:00 noon. Lunch at the hotel: 12:00 - 15:00. Afternoon excursion: 15:00 - 19:00.

Day 3: The excursion on the third day is the same as the second. The day will end with a typical Patagonian asado (BBQ) in the hotel. Overnight at Hosteria Las Torres.

Day 4: Transfer to Punta Arenas or Calafate.
