Destination - Lima

Lima, Peru’s capital is referred to as the City of Kings, and its illustrious past is reflected in buildings of the historical centre where you’ll find many impressive examples of grand colonial architecture; including a striking cathedral, mansions, churches and grand plazas. Temples, sanctuaries and human dwellings stand as testimony of the indigenous people who made this region one of the most important cultural centres of Pre-Inca and Inca civilisations. Miraflores and San Isidro are upmarket residential districts south of the centre, which offer excellent shopping, art galleries, bars and restaurants, as well as many hotels and easy access to the Pacific Ocean. With these modern and historical areas, and the ruined Pre-Inca pyramids and temples to the south of the city, Lima encapsulates the mix of cultures which exist throughout Peru.
