Highlight - Southern Ice Fields of Chile

4 day/3 night cruises. Departures on Tuesdays and Fridays from Puerto Natales.

Season: October - April.

This cruise through the Southern Ice Fields of Chile covers 380 miles and includes most of the glaciers in the area. In addition to viewing around 15 glaciers, either directly from the ship or by walking up the moraine to them, or sailing through the multi-colouted ice floes on small expedition vessels, you will have the chance to observe the varied Patagonian flora and fauna in all it's natural glory.

Day 1: 16.00 Passenger reception. 17.15 Safety speech about the vessel. Departure from Puerto Natales between 17.30 and 18.00. Sailing through Angostura Kirke, Morla, Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and Sarmiento channels.

Day 2: 08.00 Arrive at Amalia glacier. The vessel approaches the glacier. Panoramic view from the ship. 09.30 Disembarkation on a nearby beach, gentle hiking through the beach, flora and rocks, arriving at a viewpoint where you can appreciate this beautiful glacier. 11.30 Sailing for El Brujo glacier. 14.00 Arrival at El Brujo glacier. Weather and ice permitting, passengers can disembark and contemplate this glacier from a nearby rock. 15.30 Start sailing to the amazing Calvo fjord. 17.10 Arrival at Calvo fjord and excursion on the “Capitán Constantino” icebreaker, appropriate to navigate between the ice. Visit the Fernando, Capitán Constantino and Alipio glaciers, amongst others. 20.00 Sail towards Montañas fjord.

Day 3: 09.00. Visit Montañas fjord, from where you can see four glaciers that slide down the Sarmiento mountains to the sea, two of them are on our route. 09:30 Visit Alsina glacier, excursion on our boats, to explore this small bay and its glaciar, enjoying its beauty and the enormous mountains surrounding it. 10.30 Return to Skorpios III. Continue sailing through Montañas fjord towards Bernal glacier. 11.15 Disembarkation on Bernal glacier. Iniciate gentle hiking in a small native forest and then cross through a stream which crosses a glacier water lagoon. Continue gentle hiking over the front and side moraines. Arrive at the glacier. Here, you can feel and touch the ice and also appreciate the melting iceberg. 12.45 Passengers return to the ship, which will be in the natural water supplying phase. This water, provided from a cascade, is used on board for all ship services. 14.00 Skorpios III continues sailing through Montañas fjord and you will be able to see Herman and Zamudio glaciers from the ship. 17.45 Arrive at White angostura. Disembarkation. Then, on the excursion boats, sail among islands and rocks enjoying the native fauna and flora. 19.30 Return to the ship and prepare for the Captain’s dinner. 21.00 Farewell party. Captain’s dinner and dance. Navigation through Almirante Montt gulf.

Day 4: Arrive at Puerto Natales between 02.00 and 07.00 depending on wind conditions, to reach the Skorpios Terminal. 08.00 to 09.30 Passengers leave the ship.

Note: The program and schedules may change depending on weather conditions or force majeure. Also disembarkations will depend on the authorization of the ship's captain who will evaluate the safety and ice conditions of each location. Timings of lectures and activities will be informed during the sailing.
